My Experiment with Fat Burning Foods

Don't you wish they would announce a super food that would be like those quickie meals on Star Trek where they would eat but never seem to gain weight? I suppose that would be engineered food that would be perfect nutritionally, but modified. Well, something as good and totally natural is available right at the local grocery. It's called fat burning foods.

Just a couple of years ago we were introduced to some foods that when you ate them, the digestion process would burn more calories than you gained by eating the food. That first sounded so far fetched that I wanted proof and to talk to someone who was actively on the program. If it worked, it would be a miracle, no? Just think - eat an apple, watch some TV, eat a cherry, read a book - life goes on.

But not to throw water on anyone's campfire, there is a caveat. You do have to exercise some in order for the foods to have their full effect of burning those pounds away. When I first heard this, I thought that there is no difference in these so called fat burning foods than anything else I eat, if I have to go jog it off. But I found out that the exercise sets the metabolism going and the foods kick into high gear.

Fortunately, there are hundreds of cases of people who lost weight using this regime. And even the reviews on fat burning websites state that these foods can be very useful in a diet of moderate exercise and good strategy. I know I need to exercise - I was just wishing I could do it more like Captain Kirk did in some 3D hologram. Might as well have fun, no?

Here's the best way I found to see if these foods do actually work. I stayed on a strict diet of the fat burning foods and my mild exercise and measured my body fat every morning at the same time. Over the two weeks I did see a great loss in weight - for me, about 6 pounds. And I am told with increased exercise that my metabolism would have been elevated even more and I would have lost more.

Fruits are part of the diet, but I also heard of a study done by Professor Michael Zemer of the University of Tennessee Nutrition and Medicine, that diets high in dairy had weight losses of double those poor on dairy. And I'm pretty sure that's not ice cream - but the lower fat dairys. Turns out that the calcium breaks down the fat cells. Maybe you could just take calcium?

Similarly, foods high in carbs can actually increase fat storage on the body - but only if eaten late in the day when you can no longer work them off. A recent study of women and breakfast showed that high carb breakfasts helped lose more than 4 times the weight of women who ate practically nothing in the morning as a diet. watch your types of foods and when you eat. Don't eat late and eat every three hours or so.

Fat burning foods are lemons, eggplant, turnips, blackberries, mushrooms, spinach, grapefruit, pumpkin, broccoli, oranges, limes, pineapple, beans, carrots, cherries, fava beans, walnuts, and dried fruits. You can toss in some cheese there, thanks to Professor Zemel and have quite a tasty meal as you burn the calories with a smile.
